Should school be free?
1. School should not be free because free things are lower quality than things that cost money. By investing in the schools, the parents can make sure their kids get a high quality education.
- If the parents are worried they can look at the material or home school their children, since they don’t like the public education system. Plus there would still be private schools that are not free, though most of the other schools are free.
- Public schools still need money to function. For example, public schools use tax dollars from the public. But, this money is not enough. Let me explain why. If the school is in a poor neighborhood, the people there don’t pay a lot of tax. So, the school won’t have any money. But, if you live in a rich neighborhood, the people can afford to pay a lot of tax, and the school gets a lot of money. In conclusion, it isn’t fair to kids who live in poor neighborhoods.
- Do you mean that 4.8 trillion will not be enough to pay schools that are free every year?
- 4.8 trillion dollars across all the schools in the world is not that much money. There are 248,000 public schools in the world, which means only 20,000 dollars per school per year. That is nothing! My own salary is more than 20,000 dollars. If they have 20 teachers at the school, it is not enough money at all.
