Birth control

1. Birth control should not be free, because some girls might get it without their parents’ permission, even when they are too young.

  • Young people could still save up money to buy it. Also, if people have to show their IDs when they pick up the medicine, young people would be found out because they either don’t have an ID, or the ID shows that they are too young to have it.

2. Birth control should be free because it is the woman’s choice whether she wants to become pregnant, because if she doesn’t want a baby or can’t afford one, she should be able to prevent that suffering for herself and the baby.

  • However, there is more than one way to prevent a pregnancy. You do not need medicine to prevent pregnancy. You can also change your behavior, to avoid getting in situations where you might become pregnant.
  • In some cases women are forced into relationships that they don’t want to be in. Having birth control would help them prevent getting pregnant with someone who they don’t want to have a baby with.

3. Birth control should cost money because nothing in this world is free. If women can get birth control for free, it means that we are all paying for it with tax money.

  • Governments spend a lot of money on various projects to help people. If they have money to make lunches for people, they should have enough money to pay for some pills as well. Either way, we are paying taxes.
  • If we don’t pay for the birth control pills, we can use that money for projects that benefit all people, and not just women who don’t want to get pregnant. For example, we could spend the money on repairing roads, or cleaning the public water. All people benefit from that.
  • Why are people building bridges and tunnels even though we already have roads that serve the purpose? Plus, why are we expanding the Suez Canal? Some people say that we were running out of money, but now we are helping the country with extra income from the canal. But what about the suffering people and women in hospitals, and children who are living a bad life because their mothers couldn’t afford to take those pills?
